REMINISCING

July 21, 2011 was the first time I logged onto Hack Forums, and I never would've expected to still be here all this time later.
I was invited to the site by a member named CAT Deliaaa who I met while playing Halo 3, he told me of a community of other boosters that would come to this site and boost for an easy buck, as well as free access to booters. I came in and hosted a Halo Boosting Service free to the community and boosted hundreds of members to 50's and my thread had thousands of posts. Sadly, upon writing this thread, I am learning that it has since been removed by time. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=1908802

The first group I ever joined was Techsperts, led by [mention=323740] and [mention=30595] where I was forced to write about Anime stuff I had little to no interest in for the sake of having content to provide to the forum. I did my part nonetheless. [mention=619030] and [mention=570186] added me to their group Propitious as soon as they created it, and I felt like I was really a part of the community. We would spend many nights in Skype calls with [mention=295848] and [mention=661940] or playing Halo. < I did most of the heavy-lifting ;) > Those times were awesome.

Shortly after, I spent my time in the marketplace whenever the SST section was still around. I made quite a bit of money during my time here, spent quite a bit as well. I quit sales after a short-stint to focus on trying to lead a gaming group that would just be full of chill members looking to have fun, play some games and not have such a strict requirement on group membership conditions. Fortunately, a user then known as 'Platinum' came to me, and informed me of who he was. Turned out, he was one of many people I had brought to the site, he made a fortune coming here and bought a group and wanted me to lead it. Skill was born, of course not without headaches caused by Platinum.

Down the line from there, I went on to lead other groups; Complexity, Guardians, The Foundation, The Creed, Skill again and then Warriors upon returning. Since roughly 2014 I've been a strong supporter of the HF News, been Mentor and lost it, been banned, been warned, been closed, been allowed back, contributed and reaped benefits. And through all of my time, I never would have imagined that [mention=1] would offer me a position to serve as Staff for Hack Forums. I've made plenty of mistakes in my time here, but that is one thing I'm doing my best to do right.
Now, I can only imagine how hectic things were for the Staff of the past and the amount of things they had to deal with. It gives you a perspective that a lot of people never get to see. One thing that took a while to adjust to, was how some people change whenever you have the role, and some not for the better. But I look forward to serving as Staff for as long as you guys will have me.

FEEDBACK

Through the years a lot of changes have been made, some that we never thought we would see at all. Notifications were added after years of thinking that was absolutely never going to happen. The Vouch System was in a sort of limbo for a long time before we eventually got Contracts and the B-Rating system, which is one of the best additions I think the site has had in my opinion. Convos is great for quick conversation, but I feel it also pulls discussion away from the public forum a bit. Plenty of games, plenty to keep yourself busy and a few things that I personally don't find much use in.

• One thing that is bothersome to me, is the amount of newly registered members that come in, post 1 LQP and then buy an attachment and log out forever. I think it would do a lot if we restricted the ability to buy attachments to users who have met a certain criteria, whether it's online time or post count.
  
  
• Bots are becoming a bigger problem than they had been, I'd be fully supportive of pulling the trigger on the idea, where a member must post within X-minutes or the account would auto-close. I feel this would greatly reduce the amount of active bots as well as nearly eliminate the chore of going through and personally figuring out who is or isn't a bot whenever one is suspicious but unproven.
  
  
• Way too many Groups and Crews! I'm a crew owner myself, and even I believe we have way too many Groups and way too many Crews. I'd rather see about 10 active Groups than 20+ near-dead ones. People keep making suggestions insisting that their idea will drive activity back into groups, but a suggestion won't boost activity unless they play their part and contribute to activity themselves as well. I know there isn't a lot you can really do about this, since users paid good money to have the groups that they have now. It's just me bitching about it more than anything lol.
  
  
• Hackuman is near-impossible now. The kill counters reset each season, and makes the HUM Killer improbable to get unless you are a select few in one of the two crews allied to dominate the game. With the seasons the Euthanize This! award is super hard to get, because you get to level 100, and you have to choose, kill your HUM for the Euthanize this award, or leave it for the HUM Sword. I'd like to see the counters for the HUM Kills stay and not reset, and I feel that the Euthanize this award should be reduced to Level 50.
  
  
• I like the idea of removing the ability to get eggs from Group sub-forum posts more than not having the ability to gain bytes. Because from the last time I saw, you still lose bytes if the post(s) are removed from the group sub. Keep the Egg Lottery gone, that was just a green light for Bytes Sellers to horde all of them. I'll cut the list off there, because outside of that I don't have a lot I could even complain about. The Pros of HF far outweigh any Cons you could think of for the site.

I love the changes that have been made to the Marketplace, I feel a lot of scams have been prevented with the amount of implementations that have been made to combat it. I enjoy the addition of the HF Games and Convos, it gives you something to do during short bursts of downtime or while waiting on something. I like that some sections were trimmed down and/or combined in order to eliminate some dead or dying sections.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I've made a lot of great memories on this site, seen a lot of wild and awesome things during my 12 years here. I've learned a lot, I've met a lot of very interesting people, made a lot of money and helped a lot of people along the way. And I look forward to doing all of that for another 12 years. Thanks to [mention=619030] for getting me invested in the site. And thank you to [mention=57618] for bringing back my interest in Hack Forums after I was ready to just become a hermit here.
