if they have FTP open or convincing them to open FTP on their home connection it should be, aside from that though this isn't normally possible.

As others have mentioned, you can't really do anything with just an IP. If you have an email or some other way of sending them information, you can access their computer with a RAT and steal all sorts of files, but with an IP you're limited to DDoSing as far as I'm aware.
