How does HF members like their steak cooked? - Smexi - Mar 25, 2017 Today is Saturday so for me that means pan seared steak day. I personally love a done to well done steak. The thought of a rare steak disgust me really. Medium done is pushing the limits! My steaky :) How I cook my steak. 1. SALT SALT SALT and a lil pepper. (I believe letting a steak sit at room temp is a waste of time). 2. Fill cast iron skillet with just under enough oil to fill the bottom of the skillet. Fun fact: I use Canola Oil preferably as it is not a strong tasting oil and doesn't take away from the flavor of the steak. Also, at this point I turn the oven on to 450 degrees. 3. Heat Canola Oil to fill the bottom in a cast iron skillet until it starts to smoke a little at high temp. 3. Tilt cast iron skillet a bit away from me a slow place the steak in the skillet with tongs. 4. Sear it for 3 minutes on one side, flip it over and sear the other side for 1 1/2 minutes. 5. Slide that juicy girl into the oven for about 12 minutes as I like my steak very done. 6. Extra step for yummy in the tummy. I will wrap the steak in foil for 5 minutes with butter on both sides to add that extra fatty goodness. I like to use a steak that is about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Usually a Porterhouse or a NY strip. * - zSerity - Mar 25, 2017 Yeah I'm with you. Well done or medium-well. I also dip it in sauce which probably drives steak enthusiasts insane. * - Black Kodak - Mar 25, 2017 Well done is the fucking way to go. * - Mojeh - Mar 25, 2017 Medium rare, well seasoned. All the way. If I'm in a nice place though I'll ask for the steak to be cooked the way the chef would want it cooked. It's always good. 🤝 * - Wompus - Mar 25, 2017 Medium rare is the best way to have it. Not to chewy and still juicy, as well as all seasoning and peppercorn sauce. So very tasty. * - SXSW - Mar 25, 2017 I like to get mine medium rare. When I was younger though I would get well done since I didn't know any better. * - Talent . - Mar 25, 2017 (Mar 25, 2017 06:45 PM)Black Kodak Wrote: Well done is the fucking way to go. Nooo you lose most of the flavor like that :((( Medium well is the way to go not to done and still not like taking a bite out of a cow. * - PerfectStorm - Mar 25, 2017 well done nothing less! * - ElfBot - Mar 25, 2017 i dont eat meat, fuck meat * - Topkek_Is_Life - Mar 25, 2017 Well done is the way to go. With some A1 Steak sauce. * - grady - Mar 25, 2017 Medium rare steaks are the best, seasoning is optional, but obv a good steak has great seasoning. I don't cook, but my dad makes some baller steaks. * - Smexi - Mar 25, 2017 (Mar 25, 2017 07:42 PM)Talent឴ ឴឴឴឴឴឴឴឴឴឴ ឴឴឴឴ Wrote: Nooo you lose most of the flavor like that :((( You do not lose the flavor if you cook it correctly. * - SIM-3468354 - Mar 25, 2017 As long as the outside is seared I'll eat it. Somewhere between blue and rare is ideal. * - Null - Mar 25, 2017 I take my steak rare most of the time, like the blood. * - Kinguin - Mar 25, 2017 I prefer well done / medium, and with peppersauce. |
