I think he just gives awards based on other posts and threads he sees.
I never requested the militant award, I requested the silver medal. I believe I got the militant award for a certain post in this section.

I view the thread from time to time and give awards out but I just give them out at my discretion when I see something worthy. Only 185 awards have been given out.
