Not bad, but the text is atrocious in both versions, it's the stroke that kills it.
And you should try to apply the "rule of thirds" when adding text, it can help a piece a lot.

Not bad, It will help people with the basics but I dislike the signature and think it is a bad example to use. (dislike white background and text, also bad blending).
You also made the comment "You can now add a text if you like."?
Text is a very important part of signature and should follow the rule of thirds. Also determining whether to add text in the image also plays a big part.
but not a bad tut overall.
Last thing I suggest you re-size the images to make it more user friendly.

Text is not a required component, it's not needed whatsoever, the designer can decide whether or not they deem text necessary.
