Basically, overtime your iOS device keeps files that are junk from apps such as cache files downloaded from the internet, etc I'm not the best at explaining this but im sure you can just google junk files on iOS

A long time ago, about a year ago when I still had my iPod. I jailbroke it and deleted SO many files that it cleared 8GBs and I was still able to use it without any problems. I highly doubt that there are more than 1GB of junk files and cache on the ARM devices.

If you have a Jailbreak you can Download the Tweak called "iCleaner" it does the same thing, is in English and not this complicated Chinese shit.
