I haven't gotten a virus in over a year, I also have no anti virus.
Don't be stupid and you won't get viruses. Don't go looking for programs on youtube or poof, you're now a slave to somebody.

@Kondax
I have started disabling my av lately. It seems to get in the way more than it helps me. I just use it to scan my pc from time to time now :3

You really don't even need an AV. Just have MBAM on your PC and run a full scan once a month.

Don't click shit links, don't download shit stuff, and your pc wont be shit.

Is it possible to get a sandbox area or something to download your downloads in and check them? I understand not to use shit links, but what if a program has a really complex virus in it and it came from a pretty trustworthy site?

Just setup a VMWARE as a testbox or use sandboxie if you want.

It's best to run downloads you believe to be malicious within a sandbox within a virtual machine.

Hell, if you've got the power, a sandbox within a virtual machine within a virtual machine.

A dual VM setup isn't needed and is rather pointless. Assuming the infection could escape the box it would just repeat until it is on the host machine.

@Kondax
Lol, I have almost no power at all!

I completely derped and forgot about that.

I guess you could just completely lock the vm as much as possible.

Lesson to learn is just because the tool/program you download from youtube is working does not mean it is not backdoored. My guess is that 95% of youtube hacks/program downloads advertised on there are backdoored. I would scan your pc with a reputable anti-virus and check your registry manually for anything starting up in the background of your computer without your knowledge. You can type msconfig in your search and run msconfig.exe and check the run tab for anything suspicious running that shouldnt be on startup. Also check temp directory and appdata for any suspicious looking files. Also hold ctrl + alt + delete at the same time and hit start task manager and go to the processes tab and services tab and look for anything that is running on there that shouldnt be. Good Luck
