Was his manifesto not full of white supremacy rhetoric? I'm guessing you didn't actually read the thing, if you think white supremacy had nothing to do with this.
Gun control is an important issue because that's naturally what everyone, including the government, started to talk about right after the event.

I am not sure why you consider it propaganda. Perhaps you just need to broaden your resources for news and media.
You remind me of someone I know who only watches Fox News. 😏
As for the gun control, I think it is quite obvious you can look at statistics for countries with the least assaults from shooting per year. What do they all have in common? There is only 1 thing..

i think you missed my point
i, as a reader, don't care about gun control or how he was a nazi conservative trump supporter, i want to know more about the story. more about why he did what he did.
but, unfortunately, you had only one sentence that talked about the story. that was the first one: "In what was the deadliest mass shooting in New Zealand's history, 50 people were killed and 50 more were injured in the Christchurch mosque shootings on March 15"

"Since the attacks, some have started to voluntarily turn in their weapons to the police as a symbol of solidarity." <-- around 50 people have given their guns i think? that's out of 300k gun owners in nz
"Following the discovery that the perpetrator's guns were legally acquired, the New Zealand government has been faced with mounting pressure for tighter gun control legislation." <-- yeah but the magazines weren't, but that's against the narrative
