and yeah, webdev is right. Content and Networking. Content is a lot harder than Networking imo, it doesn't take much to get to know other members and get a feel for the whole HF scene. When thinking about content you probably want to go for something that's going to be actually useful. A lot of people here have incredible technical skill, which is great, but share things that aren't really within grasp for 95% of members. And while I see threads like these as high quality and good for the site... you're looking to make friends. Keep it simple and useful.

make some HQ threads, get the staff to know who you are, buy a load of award to stand out, Sell some shitty products on the hf market and still make money from them, et in a load of groups and smoke weed some nights to make yourself 420 cool
