Would it make more sense that if a dispute was open against a seller, their entire marketplace privileges should be revoked until the dispute is resolved, that way they can't potentially scam other members? Many times I see users with 5-10 open disputes still pull in customers to scam until something is eventually done, but that is also 10+ people that could have been avoided if certain privileges were revoked until the dispute is deemed closed. Just a thought and probably said before, but what are y'alls opinions on it? No debates or bs pls, just interested in seeing different ideas from the community on how scamming can be slowed as it is still such a rampant thing on HF. Everything done so far has most definitely helped to combat scamming, such as the b-rating and whatnot but should there be more? and if so, what?

Okay, I'll give you two scenarios. Number one, when someone gets a deal dispute on his account, we disallow his further trading until the dispute is resolved. If the dispute is not resolved within xy period, the disputed member gets closed. Number two is the current system with provided tools (trust scan, dd database, contracts, etc.).

Few problems with number one:
  1. What stops competitors to make a well-hidden multi or ask a friend to open a dd against someone? The guy is blocked from further trading due to some asshole abusing.

  2. We close the guy, he makes a new account and scams again. This time there's no way to know as you can see a totally clean account, maybe with even a good b-rating score, popularity, posts, a bit older, etc. There is NO way you can protect yourself from that scenario, not on HF, anywhere on the internet.

With what we do now, If you leave the alleged or proven scammer, anyone with a few brain cells can determine NOT to deal with him. You have a big red number on his profile and you can read the whole dispute. If you still want to deal with 'em, go ahead, you're a moron. Not much we can help with that.

You get a welcome PM warning you about the marketplace, it says all over the marketplace to be careful. There are plenty of guides out there, in Help Docs and as threads. We can't make people get familiarized with how things work around here if they don't want to.

So does HF, https://hackforums.net/stats.php?action=market

Total Contracts
232,901
Completed Contracts
98,728
Disputed Contracts
2,366

?!?!

This is what you are trying to say, right? A member who has an open dispute shouldn't create another marketplace thread until the dispute gets resolved. This is a good idea. At the same time, the buyer also should aware before doing any deals.

who tf would support that?

Some disputes are undeserved, open by trolls or even people who wanted to scam themselves so yeah that would not be a good policy

Admins are doing more than they can but asking a vendor/thread with 1 dd is not acceptable as trolls or competitors can make advantage of it.

We already has a trust scan so no need to worry about it but limiting user to open new threads if he has few dd in the span of a week can be considered.

How about we start with you? All that red on your profile... danger! Nobody do any deals with OP.
