Probably 10, there is no set amount, but city bylaw here is like 6 I think.

I have a cat and I really love him, so my (only possible) answer is: you can have as many as you want, just be sure that you can love every single of them and take care of them as you should.

Clearly you haven't met my cat. He was a stray and is jumpy AF, he yowls constantly, he sheds his own body weight in fur over 2-3 days, there is a neighbourhood cat trying to kill him (the evil one) that I have to try and protect him from, and I have to keep letting him in and out because the catflap I bought is microchip operated, and......he isn't microchipped because haven't figured out how to get him in the carrier to take him to the vet. The only way he could be more effort is if he started inviting his friends over to party.

My grandmother had about six cats, and when my grandfather passed away our family had to take some away from her because she could barely take care of herself let alone the animals. We left her with one cat, and the others were distributed to members of our family.

Yeah, I thought the microchip operated was the best option because there's an evil cat who keeps trying to attack our boy, and if the door's open he walks into our house like he owns the place, so need to keep that bastard out.

Sorry to say but 0 is goiod number, only because had a few issues with the local cats here so I'm not a fan of them at all.

Dogs do get expensive, went to visit my grandfather a few weeks ago and he has 6 dogs. I couldn't believe it. Think he said he spends $40/day on food for them might have been $60.

Taking care of 5 pets is a bit of a handful.
