One of the first manga I purchased in life were 'Demon Diaries' and 'Samurai Deeper Kyo.' Loved them both. Unfortunately, Demon Diaries was never completed as the artist and writer went their separate ways. Samurai Deeper Kyo you can watch in anime form as well. Highly recommend it.

Death Note is really well done and is perfect for manga. Someone also already said AOT but that's also a good one even if you've seen the anime.
