* - Hman - Dec 1, 2010 Hey, nice tutorial. I have 2 questions: 1. When i'm trying to the CCLeaner thing, I can't click anything in the Advanced section. All the boxes are grey (unclickable). 2. How would your recommend securely deleting individual files? * - Hannibal - Dec 2, 2010 (Dec 1, 2010 10:02 AM)Hman Wrote: Hey, nice tutorial. I have 2 questions: You will still be able to delete those. They are grayed out by default because deleting some of those files could cause problems in rare circumstances. First, try clicking on them, and if you are unable to tick them, then close CCleaner and restart it by running it as administrator. (Do this by right clicking the CCleaner icon - and then "Run As Administrator") This should solve your problem. (Dec 1, 2010 10:02 AM)Hman Wrote: 2. How would your recommend securely deleting individual files? I still believe CCleaner is the best open source software out there for deleting traces without going into incredible depth on computer forensics. Windows loves to keep all sorts of logs, albeit many times unbeknown to the user. However to answer your question more directly, there are a number of tools to utilize the "Secure Deletion Method" I believe you may be referring to. Take a look at first, Heidi Eraser. And also Advanced System Care. Which also has a built in feature that allows you to securely delete files, or any specific folder you desire. The link above is for the Pro version that was posted by iBF. It is 100% clean and tested and is the same copy that I personally use. Furthermore, if you are incredibly worried about the Forensics that windows leaves behind, you may feel more comfortable switching operating systems to say Linux or something more friendly - forensics wise that is. * - Sonic Boom - Dec 23, 2010 Wow.That is very useful. Can Hide actually all tracks! Thanks for the tutioral! :D * - The Unknown - Dec 23, 2010 really interesting , I rated your thread 5 on 5 and I will add for you rep right away , great job , keep up the good work * - coool_dave111 - Dec 23, 2010 nicee.. i will give it a try .. I'm planning on making two new ones that include some creative uses for virtual machines. I'm happy to hear at least some people care about staying hidden.. * - -mothered- - Dec 28, 2010 Evidently, there's been a lot of thought and effort put Into this. Well documented mate, and a pleasure to read. Good work. * - sumit8510 - Dec 28, 2010 It's nice guide bro. Thanks * - Zeon - Dec 28, 2010 Please update the pictures by hosting them on ploader.net . Btw, I have the following problem. I use HP Drive Guard, which protects my computer with 128 bit encryption (TrueCrypt uses 256). The problem is, I installed Windows 7, which smashed any software I had previously installed, including HP Drive Guard, which came with my computer. Now I still have the encryption, but I can't deactivate it. Is 128 bit encryption enough? * - maikel13 - Dec 28, 2010 Great tut, enjoyed reading it :) * - Malibuh - Dec 28, 2010 This tutorial is exactly what i needed, thank you very much!! and a great story btw. * - Roxerrocks - Dec 28, 2010 OSM tute.
