someone help me trying to find how many columns in the sql database when i do order by 1 2 3 etc i just keep getting Shop Categories Failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ORDER BY c.catName' at line 1

What does this mean: Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/absolu22/public_html/artist.php on line 121
It comes up on a lot of sites and is not your usual invalid syntax error.
