@Cyclee You PM'd me about your problem. I don't have 25 posts yet so I could not PM you back. I will explain the setup manually for you here, do this if you still have the problem as you explained me via PM:
1. Create a Folder named "Chatroom" on your C:\ drive :"C:\Chatroom"
2. Create a sub folder: Channel
3. Create a default.dat in that sub folder.
4. Open CMD as adminstrator and run the following:
net share Chat=C:\Chatroom /remark:"Chatroom
You must not do the /remark part.
5. Change the path in the main Chat script to "\\YOUR-DOMAIN-NAME\Chat"
(You get your domain name if you type in "echo %userdomain%")

If you still have any problems I'm here for you, feel
free to ask for help 😉

Bye, Crez!

Ahh beautiful code-y progress :D

If anyone's struggling to understand the concept still;
-You have a computer on a network.
-On that computer is a folder, that folder's permissions are set up so that everyone else on the network can view it.
-Within is a .bat with which people can view the contents of a .log file, and send messages into this .log file.
-This is allows people on separate computers on a network, presumably in separate rooms, to send messages to one another. As they are all sending messages into the same log file and reading the same file.

"You must not do the /remark part". Then why did you do it and say it? Also what does it do exactly?

Have to admit that line confused me a bit as well!
Can you clarify what you mean Crez? :>

Just do "net share" and you will be able to view all your shares. On the right side is the description of that shared folder. With /remark you can set the description of the share you make.
Example:
Code
Name      Path            Description
------
Chat      C:\Chatroom             LAN-Chatroom

This is probably how it would look like for you, I'm not english that's why I
can't verify that.

This thread is 2 months old so posting here is known as gravedigging. Seeing as you are new here, gravedigging is kinda frowned upon. The basis is simple for this. Put a text document in a sharedrive. Make a batch file to write to the document and one to read from the document.
