The real question is, why is this 14 year old alone at a train station? What kind of parents let their 14 year old daughter travel alone.
If you think at 14 you have usually been at your secondary/high school for 1-2 years, it's not that uncommon to travel alone at that age. I used to take a 45minute bus journey twice a day from the age of 12 to get to school. It was public transport too, not a designated school bus, so I spent an extra 30minutes-1hour per day waiting for arrival.

Personally, there's no way in hell I would let them take any public transportation alone.

Why does a 14 yr old girl traveling alone not have a cell phone? I didn't read the article posted because I saw it on the news. It was never mentioned that she had a cellphone. Not saying the guy would let her keep it but, she could called someone after the first incident. It's odd more detail hasn't been released yet.
