Do you notive that every outcome of the other members is NOT as you "wanted" they to do in the tutorial, right? lol
No one added the stops, I think :)
And the stops is what makes this different from a gradient text.
(Place text go to blending options and place a random gradient overlay)
So yeah.

smokey stuff you can find on deviantart i think.
its called grunge brushes.
then you have the texture in the text thats crackandwall brushes
i found a tut whit same kind of brushes in use: you have the presets in free download together with it;
