I had the same problem , I think the Windows caches the icon somewhere if the filename is the same. I changed the filename and the icon refreshed to the actual one.

You mean the detection rate?
If so, try to use an icon of HJT or some famous software. Firstly, get the icon with ResHack and then use ResHack again to change the icon of your crypted file.

Do you have no-ip tool running?
Did you portforward?
Does you check EOF support while crypting?

in xp sp3 my RAT server never connects, and all servers from variety of rats after crypting show the same memory usage(44k):

What are you trying to crypt the server.exe or the RAT? O.o
And also, are you sure you setup it right? There must be a problem with your pc or something. I am on Windows XP SP3 and I've tested loads of servers crypted with my crypted and nothing like this happened to me. Post a HJT log in HJT section.

I cannot get the icon to change either. I used ResHack and it didn't change it. If I knew how to remove a RAT I would test the server on myself, but I have no idea.
