That is exactly what you would do to optimize your security. A VPN is one of the essential parts of staying anonymous. Remember to purchase the VPN using TOR or it may just not have been worth it. Good luck.

Instead of TrueCrypt you could use: https://diskcryptor.net
I didn't realize how easy it was to encrypt your HDD's.
I've encrypted my HDD and External HDD recently.
