* - Magiic™ - Jun 21, 2010 Yeah, DDoSing back would put us in the wrong, whereas if Omni finds the root he'll just get their ass hauled. * - King Ragnar - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 09:17 AM)Croatus Wrote: People DDOS only because HF is the biggest Hacking Forum. True. 😕 And hope those fkin kids that r tryin to DDoS HF , get's busted. * - Da Loser - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 12:34 PM)Magiic™ Wrote: Yeah, DDoSing back would put us in the wrong, whereas if Omni finds the root he'll just get their ass hauled. What root!!!!??? Please tell me your not referring to DoS shells, Those are only for the very lame. there is still such thing as botnets used by more experienced "hackers". * - canucrackit - Jun 21, 2010 What about buying DDoS protection? It would stop quite a lot of the ddosing in my opinion. DDoS protection cost a bit per month, but there are enough uber and leet purchases to still make a substantial profit, whilst keeping the site up more brings new people and more people buy uber and leet. Might be better than doing it manually, just a suggestion though.. BlockDoS offer 99.9% uptime from $299-999 p/m * - Da Loser - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 12:41 PM)canucrackit Wrote: What about buying DDoS protection? Installing ddos protection on the server.... the ddos protection goes down with the server. Its alot better to do it manually. If there was such good working ddos protection, wouldn't everyone use it? DDoS mitigation evolves singling out the attacking ip's from the legitimate. A computer would find it very hard to do this, So the amount of CPU used by the server to automatically find every flooding ip and block it would just make the attack worse. * - Weed™ - Jun 21, 2010 I think we're ok now? I'm back to normal. * - Loka~ - Jun 21, 2010 You're the best Omni, I would love if you made a thread sometime on how to block DDoS attacks and such. :) * - canucrackit - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 12:49 PM)Iarkey Wrote: LOL. Just a suggestion, as I said it would stop most attacks but obviously not all. Well the site makes enough money to give it a go anyway. * - Robbin in the Hood - Jun 21, 2010 It's fixed fuck! Need to restart my booter lost my connections. jk? cant use a botnet ): * - Da Loser - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 12:52 PM)canucrackit Wrote: Just a suggestion, as I said it would stop most attacks but obviously not all. But i can tell you, There is no software to legitimately block even most ddos. The more efficient stuff is Network load balancing gateways, CISCO routers and Hardware firewalls. These are all not software but expensive physical devices. * - R1chard™ - Jun 21, 2010 They really have nothing else to do? Lmfao it's fucking summer instead of DDoSing I would play basketball ;] * - lemoz - Jun 21, 2010 ya things seem fine now. i don't feel any slow down * - ★ SpideR ★ - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 12:36 PM)Iarkey Wrote: What root!!!!??? No he means root as in the source of where the DDoS is coming from so he can talk to the owner of the website. * - Da Loser - Jun 21, 2010 (Jun 21, 2010 01:40 PM)★ SpideR ★ Wrote: No he means root as in the source of where the DDoS is coming from so he can talk to the owner of the website. If it was an irc they'd just move the DNS elsewhere. * - Omniscient - Jun 21, 2010 Quote:Omni isn't a noob, if he knew that ddos protection would be more efficient than mitigation he would get some. These are all not software but expensive physical devices. Exactly. I can pretty much do the same job myself as a $5000 cisco router. Most of you are completely clueless about how I run DDOS protection. And it's not worth it to pay $500-$1000 a month just to have 100% uptime. I'm okay with 98%. Our downtime is really not that bad considering all the attacks we actually do experience. Todays attack was at least 250k PPS which most DDOS protection hosts want $1000+ for. I did it myself for free. Yeah we had some slightly slower response time but there was still 400+ people logged in and posting just fine. If I really wanted I could rent a server for $400 a month with a 1GiGe port, dual cpu, and 8b ram to be a load balancer and firewall. I could probably handle a 1,000,000 PPS attack with that hardware. Basically the next update in hardware by the end of the year is going to put my entire server costs around $1000 and will go even further with bouncing these attacks. I'm not really bothered by the attacks. Hasn't been one that took us down for more than a couple hours for many months. Usually that's becuase I'm offline too. Anyways...we're good now. |
