Never really used the feature myself as I prefer to just keep the important threads in my browser bookmarks. Crazy that someone was actually subscribed to +10k threads.

I was going to ask why not remove the email function of subscribed threads instead but the general consensus here is that people weren't using the feature. I myself used it but it's not a hassle to bookmark them instead.

I'm 100% okay with the email function being scraped but getting notified in usercp is so god damn helpful (for me at least) I heavily dislike chrome on my phone so I use safari. There is no way for me to bookmark stuff on chrome and keep track of it on safari. I use HF on my PC and my phone equally.

I didn't even notice this future, I think you know whats best for our community.
Long live HF!

It's a native feature of the forum, is it not?

It is but is there a point staying subscribed to thousands of threads is the issue

Not sure, I don't see a reason to subscribe to threads apart from the ones I stated earlier if I wanna see responses I'll just go through my posts again.
I kinda don't fully understand how it's abuse if the feature exists within the forum itself, but maybe I just don't fully understand the reason to need to subscribe to every single thread you post on.

How else do we know if a thread we commented on gets a response?
You click thread options at the top of the thread and click subscribe thread if you want to pick which threads are subscribed, rather than subscribing to every single one.

I do at least, but I don't post much every single day, most I go back is 3 pages and that takes like 20 seconds to do generally, otherwise a couple seconds to check just the first page. I don't really care enough to keep up with general discussion threads a month later, I'd rather see new discussions. I also mostly post around this section too which would be useless to sub to as it's mostly questions and then the threads dead forever.

Why is there built-in functionality to do that though, if it's so frowned upon?

I've been manually checking my posts to check replies, but when I was very active I recall this being very difficult.

I've never even used the subscription feature.

Assholes while find a way to ruin anything.., although without a limit on that feature, there will always be someone trying to fuck around with HF and use up every itty bitty resource of this website.
Pathetic.

Swear you've banned users in the past for this.
Just limit the amount of threads we can subscribe too.

He already said that he's planning on it.

Thanks, I can read. Was talking about when he writes the plugin.... If you got common sense.

Dunno, gonna have to ask him yourself. Probably doesn't care if you use it as long as you eventually unsub from ones you don't need. Maybe he didn't notice it was a feature inside the forum.

IMO, I don't think the users intended to do this. They're all very active users who were banned and I'm sure they had the setting to auto-subscribe (I know I did), and had I posted loads more on (unique) threads than I have, then I'm sure I'd have subscribed to thousands of different threads.

By default it's switched off. I do think they didn't know that they were causing harm in a way, even though it's still pretty dumb and unnecessary to be subscribed to thousands of threads.
