Not sure if you can earn the same colour eggs while you already have them. I think you need to incubate the ones you have before you can earn more

It's a thing that can happen to anyone, I personally never got one but I should have got one back along when I was posting a lot. And giving a lot of bytes but I guess I was unlucky.

yeah, the only way to get same colour eggs is when they are given to you as a reward (like if you already have a green/red or blue one, the upgrade could drop you a second one of the same kind)
