That would be out of scope for this write yp, plus. Honestly I dont really use crypters so you would be best to ask someone who uses them often for a more accurate answer.
I do however know Byte Protector is compatible with it however.

As someone new to hacking, what would you advise I start with? Straight to ratting? Or should I start smaller

Start reading tutorials... That is literally the best solution to someone who wishes to "Break into the field" so to speak.
You must first educate before you explore.
