Yeah, with regards to the legality of encrypting data, in the UK at least, it is legal to encypt data etc. But there is what is known as the 'key disclosure law' requiring you by law to give up your decryption key, or face a 5 year prison sentence.

One of the most important things to know in my opinion when hacking, or doing anything else really is the law for your state/country.
Your going to be pretty fucked if your in the UK and you get arrested, then try to use a law you read about to help you, which doesn't actually exist in your country <3
