Start up problem (Missing taskbar & Desktop) - Foul - Aug 17, 2009 Hey, when i'm currently coding a stealer & keylogger (which is doing really good so far, but with the problem i'm having now, i'll probably have to reformat thus making this project useless) and I have everything done. I then added a start-up function, the last thing I had to do 'till the project was finished. I tested the start-up, and now when I reboot all I get is my program. Literally, that's all I get. Just my program & a picture of my desktop. Now, I did a system restore so I thought I could fix the problem. Nope, this time I can't even get past the log-in screen on XP now that I did a system restore. Anyone know what I should do? I'm not concerned much, but I don't want to reformat. 😭 When I press log-in, it flashes to my desktop for a second and then logs out. This is on XP. The code I was using creates a regkey and adds itself to start-up but it uses a very weird method. I tested it anyway. If you know VB Code, it makes an encrypted regkey and attaches itself to winlogon. Why I thought it would work good is beyond me. 😖 PS: Before system restore, I did try and run explorer but all I got was the explorer folder that shows desktop and stuff. Pretty typical. - AceKidd01 - Aug 18, 2009 You might have a virus in your computer here: Read this if you are infected Also you might want to download HijackThis and post a log in HijackThis Log Analyzer and Tutorials Here is the link for HijackThis - Vaqxine - Aug 18, 2009 In Task Manager, there should be no explorer.exe process. If it's there, kill it. Then go to File -> New Task (Run...) and type in "explorer.exe" without the quotes. To remove your keylogger from startup use a program like HijackThis or open msconfig from the run prompt. - SSCN3T - Aug 18, 2009 What happens in safemode? - I3igmac - Aug 18, 2009 just curious, check your task manager with ctrl-alt-delete Is explorer.exe running??? end that process if its running... Then from the taskmanager click file-> new task -> start a new task, just type explorer.exe then hit enter... that should bring up your desktop and startmenu... post the source of your trojin, it shouldnt be hard to figure out what function is causing this... - AceKidd01 - Aug 18, 2009 (Aug 18, 2009 07:13 PM)I3igmac Wrote: just curious, check your task manager with ctrl-alt-delete Is explorer.exe running???
