DataVault - tflo - May 5, 2011

Update:
-You can now encrypt and decrypt external files.
-Credentials are stored as an image using my Custom Image Encoding class.
-Various bug fixes and enhancements.
-Loads noticeably faster thanks to UbbeLol's UID Grabber

Note: Some updates rework the credential system, just delete the credential file (vault/cred.dvf) and retype the same password on your next run to regain access to your files.

Information:
This is one of my larger programs I have been working on the past week or so. It is a secure way to store plain text data. This uses a variety of Flo classes (most of which are published here). I coded it in C#, you can PM me for the source (contributing members only, I won't be converting it to VB since it has many classes and forms). This program requires you to login using a master password and filling in a CAPCHA. Once logged in, it is basically just a tabbed text editor with auto-encryption. I didn't use any themes for the GUI but I love the way it looks personally. Keep in mind this program works out of the directory the binary is located, so if you move the file you will have to move all the *.dvt / *.dvf files or lose your data.

Enjoy, hope you can find a use for this program.

So when you export the log does it create it's own file type? I also assume it's encrypted so you can't just open with notepad.

Cool program though.

Not easily, I wrote my own encryption algorithm. Accessing the second form without using the correct password will not produce valid data also.

writing your own algs dont matter that much when you can see them clearly.

I know but the key is never seen, and is compared using the current user's HWID as the initial key.

Oh I've done this before. xD Well done.

Aww man, this is nearly the same as my project.

Oh well, my project is mostly for passwords but I like yours aswell. I think it's funny how we both had the same idea to
use its own file extension. What kind of encryption does yours use?

Thanks be sure to show me yours. My original idea was for passwords and I was going to call is PassVault, then I got the idea that it could be used for a wider variety of things so I renamed it DataVault.

It has three main levels of security:

FloCryptography
FloImageEncoding
FloCAPCHA

And yes I wrote them all from scratch :P
