[Source-VB.NET] Url Shortener Revisited - idb. - Jun 11, 2011

I'm sure everyone has seen GanjaMan-WS's Url Shortening thread (if not it's located here: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=1068116). This is basically a rewrite of that (as per request of Kousha). I feel that this way is a lot more clean, has less redundant code, and just works faster.

This is in no way trying to take away from GanjaMan-WS or attempting to discredit his code/thread. This was just my take on the topic. As a matter of fact, I used the Url's provided by him in his source (was too lazy to register for developer keys myself (is this where someone tries to tell me I'm a skid or that I steal source? lolol)) so much respect and thanks to him. :)

That being said... heres a little demo.

PS: tiny.cc is slow as shit. Not the code. Also, dot.tk is the worst site on the internet next to youtube/lemonparty.

No problem man. Make sure to check out GanjaMan-WS's original thread covering this as well. He deserves the views/replies. If not for him, this example wouldn't be here right now :)

Looks pretty awesome bro, is dot.tk just there for show? Haha.

Adding dot.tk was actually Kousha's idea, but the site was acting extremely stupid so I veto'd it for the time being. 99% of the dot.tk code is inside the project, I just couldn't get a valid response from the server (through code or manually through browser). Once they get their shit together I will finish implementing it.

Any other shortening services that anyone would like me to add please drop in a response here. It would take all but 5 minutes to implement with the way the code is set up.

my opinion ... lot of work for nothing.
u can use simple webClient.downloadString
for that. but cool work.

Did you use a public account for the links or just used them?

You do not need any accounts for the links to be provided.

Not at all, idb did this ALL from scratch, all he used from him was the link's he offered in his source.
