Running games/programs directly from RAM? - Linux Kernel - Jun 20, 2011 Any way to do this? I have 4GB of RAM and would like to play games or run programs directly from it - i've heard by doing this can increase it's perfromance by a lot! How can I do this? * - T@kU - Jun 20, 2011 You can make part of your ram into a disk. I guess you can then install it on the RAM disk. But files on RAM disks delete everytime the computer is turned off. Hope I helped * - H0p.e - Jun 20, 2011 (Jun 20, 2011 09:38 AM)T@kU Wrote: You can make part of your ram into a disk. This is true, however it isn't very practical. Any games big enough to need this would take to long to set up every time you turn your computer on, I suggest upgrading other components instead. Yeah that's what I meant :) Plus with 4GB RAM the games you could install would be pretty small, and small games don't really need the super speed of RAM to run. * - Linux Kernel - Jun 20, 2011 The game I have in mind to run is Minecraft - why? Because on linux it runs like a beauty and on windows it runs like SHIT! I have a 2.16Ghz laptop with 4GB Ram and 1gb family chip gfx card. So I thought maybe i could run the whole game and saves on RAM to increase performance. * - chocoladisco - Jun 20, 2011 then just keep running it on linux! |
