[Easy][TUT] Reading Text From a Webpage - Phriendly - Jun 24, 2011

So This Tutorial is based around reading ASCII from a txt file or maybe even an HTML on a webpage for such things as a News updater on the sidebar of a program.

So 1st off create a Form and add: 1 Button and A Textbox set to multiline Spoiler (Click to View)

Then add this under Public Form 1:
Dim webclient As New System.Net.WebClient

Then go back to your form and double click the button you added; add this code:

Textbox1.Text = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString(( _
webclient.DownloadData("http://example.org/tutorial.txt")))

Change your button text to something like 'Update' or 'Refresh'

This was my first tutorial and if you found it helpful please comment ✌

You are welcome. +1 for you still being a new member and posted a vb.net tutorial rather than posting a thread "help me with crypter plox" .

Well I find it silly when people try to make things that they don't understand/ know how to make.

I'm going to this because i think it could help a lot of people :)

Hmm! Nice one

But you could even try this one:

PHP Code

<?php
Textbox1
.Text = webclient.Downloadstring("http://example.org/tutorial.txt")

The result is same in the end i believe :)
