How to set up a Proxy + Get proxy lists! - Xaros - Jul 6, 2011

Hello everyone, today I'm going to show you the program Proxifier. This program is easy to use, even for beginners! Alright, let's get started, shall we?

Requirements:

Proxifier available for download here.

Q & A:

What is a proxy? : A proxy is like a middle man. It exchanges packets between Host One, and Host Two. Therefore, Host One's IP is masked from Host Two seeing it.

How easy is this tutorial to follow? : This tutorial is fairly easy to follow, a beginner with common sense should have no problem following along.

What will I learn from this tutorial? :
  1. How to set up Proxifier

  2. How to obtain a proxy list

  3. How to use that proxy list

Part One: Getting the proxies!

  1. Now, to get our proxy's IP and Port, we must head over to this website.

  2. Now, pick one of them. and head on to the second section to learn how to use it!

Part Two: Using your proxy!

  1. First open Proxifier

  2. Hit continue evaluation

  3. Now, near the top left of the program, you should see a hammer in front of what looks like an application window. Click on it.

  4. Now, hit 'Add' and enter the information for the Proxy that you gained from Part One: Getting the proxies!

  5. Now, hit Okay, and make sure the box beside the Proxy you just added is checked.

  6. Let's see if it worked! Head over to here.

  7. If it loads, you have a working proxy! You should also notice that your IP has changed. This is because you are now using the proxy server as a middleman for all of your packet transfer.

I hope this thread has helped you guys learn:
A. How to set-up a proxy.
B. a little bit about how a proxy works.
