[TUT] [EASY!] How to Make a BOT Say Something Upon Opening Your Program [EASY!] [TUT] - iBounce™ - Aug 7, 2011 Ok this is my first tutorial and so far everybody has hated on my threads either way so whatever. Sorry if this has been posted already!! Things You Will Need : Visual Basic 2008/2010 Basic Coding Knowledge Step 1) Create a New Windows application and name it whatever you want/or edit a .vb project you already have. Step 2) Drag a Timer onto Form1 Step 3) Double-Click Timer ![]() and copy this : Code Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.TickStep 4) Highlight all of the text shown in the picture ![]() Step 5) Paste the code you copied form Step 3 and it should overwrite the text you highlighted from Step 4 Should look like this! ![]() Step 5) In between the parenthesis type what you want the bot to say Code SAPI.Speak("What you want the BOT to say")Step 6)Now go back to the top where it says Code Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.LoadAnd highlight it ![]() Step 7) Copy this Code Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.LoadAnd paste it where you highlighted the code in step 6 Step 8) Click the Debug Icon at the top of Visual Basic ![]() And it should say whatever you put in the parenthesis,if it didn't go back and see what you did wrong! Here is the full code if anyone is to lazy to follow the tutorial! Spoiler (Click to View) Thank you for reading my tutorial and please leave your questions down below if your having problems. Again this is my first tutorial for Hackforums so I hope you'll welcome me to the HF community! - iBounce™ * - Deceptive - Aug 7, 2011 Posted previously. This isn't a bot either. * - Edgar Allan Slow - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 09:38 PM)Deceptive Wrote: Posted previously. This isn't a bot either. He means a bot as in like a robot. He is calling the voice a Bot, not the program. Anyways, good job, this will help out beginners! * - iBounce™ - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 09:38 PM)Deceptive Wrote: Posted previously. This isn't a bot either. What am I suppose to call it...Microsoft speech, because that would fit. (Aug 7, 2011 09:39 PM)S Wrote: He means a bot as in like a robot. Thank you for the feedback! * - Tedd - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 09:38 PM)Deceptive Wrote: Posted previously. This isn't a bot either. 1. Define bot bot / bät / Noun 1. The larva of the botfly, which is an internal parasite of animals. 2. (chiefly in science fiction) A robot. 2. Define robot ro·bot / ˈrōˌbät / Noun 1. A machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically. So, yes, it is a bot. @OP: Rated good because lack of originality and structure (could have had a better tutorial design). Other than that a GREAT tutorial! * - Deceptive - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 09:53 PM)Tedd Wrote: 1. Define bot How in the hell is this a "robot" it's Text to Speech. Microsoft Speech takes a string and converts it into a sound. That takes every single consonant, vowel, pronunciation, etc. and compiles it into one wav. How is that not complex? Edit: As well, it doesn't have to be complex. Complex can be (yet the opposite) as simple as a series of commands. Complex: adjective /kämˈpleks/ /kəmˈpleks/ /ˈkämˌpleks/ 1. Consisting of many different and connected parts * - Deceptive - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 09:58 PM)Tedd Wrote: Are you serious? Microsoft Speech takes a string and converts it into a sound. Sure Microsoft Speech is, but the snippet he just posted isn't. /Thread * - 0xDEAD10CC - Aug 7, 2011 Why would you be using a timer for this? There is a form load event handler * - Tedd - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 10:01 PM)Deceptive Wrote: Sure Microsoft Speech is, but the snippet he just posted isn't. The snippet he uses plugs into microsoft speech therefor becoming a "complex robot", in the most literal definition. * - iBounce™ - Aug 7, 2011 Why do people always argue on my threads? But whatever I don't mind. * - Sapientia - Aug 7, 2011 Nice job explaining, will for sure help out the beginners. * - Cherish Life - Aug 7, 2011 Why is a timer used? Why can't it just be on Form_Load? Would make much more sense considering it when it starts. OP: Good job, but explain a little more that every command does, helps but no one really knows what SAPI and dim might mean, for beginners. Also no one is hating on your thread, they are questioning your methods, thats not hating. Also people arn't arguing in a wrong view, they are arguing because you called it a bot, which is very stupid i agree but just tune it out, its nothing aginst the thread. /ignoreit * - hacku4eva - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 10:09 PM)iBounce™ Wrote: Why do people always argue on my threads? its ok its not just you.its almost always like that on every thread * - iBounce™ - Aug 7, 2011 (Aug 7, 2011 10:11 PM)Anatamize Wrote: Why is a timer used? Why can't it just be on Form_Load? Now that you mention it...Your right, but whatever I kinda like it this way because you can set the interval so it delays my splash screen a little but. |
