New programming section moderator? - Apple - Sep 15, 2011 So apparently Astonish is NJ was appointed moderator of the programming section (which is absolute ludicrous, I might add.) The .NET section has been without an 'active' moderator forever, and was pretty much only viewed by moderators who received reports, which worked, but we did need a moderator. What I want to know is, why was it Astonish? This is like appointing a chef leader of an army. Astonish never spent any time in the programming section before he was appointed moderator, so the only reason I can see he was appointed is because he paid you for a group. Is that what moderator is now? A paid position? I can think of a ton of people who would better fit the position, as they're tons more active, and quite frankly, much more intelligent, namely Ethereal. * - MichaelChanata - Sep 15, 2011 If ethereal gets appointed moderator in the programming section you will see a huge decline in programmers and a massive surge in retarded .net kids. Anyone can read wikipedia and blag their way into looking like a good programmer. * - Xerotic - Sep 15, 2011 Accusing Omniscient that he is giving someone a moderator position do to payments will not end well for you. * - Apple - Sep 15, 2011 (Sep 15, 2011 03:15 PM)xerotic Wrote: Accusing Omniscient that he is giving someone a moderator position do to payments will not end well for you. I don't remember accusing anybody. I'm simply stating what it looks like from my point of view, which is completely logical. Astonish buys a coding group -> Astonish appointed moderator of coding sections. * - Cyber-Security - Sep 15, 2011 At least have some faith in Omni's decisions. He knows what he is doing, let's just see how this turns out. I think that Astonish will do good in this position although I agree that there are many other individuals that can handle this position. * - Crash-Override - Sep 15, 2011 I wish we had vorfin... He was a great coder and a good staff member. He would've been the one suitable for this. @OP : You are not in a position to question omniscient' decision as said by xerotic.. * - Apple - Sep 15, 2011 (Sep 15, 2011 03:19 PM)Crash-Override Wrote: @OP : You are not in a position to question omniscient' decision as said by xerotic.. I really don't see anything wrong with requesting more information to a recent change to the section I'm most active in. Am I not allowed to question my government's decisions to my country simply because I'm not a part of the administrative hierarchy? * - Hell Guardian - Sep 16, 2011 I think It's a bit weird to have a moderator that only had 7 posts in the section! I think what apple means is that he picked Astonish because he have a coding group We yet to see ANY of Astonish's creations, So until that he proves him self as a coding guru..I will have to back up apple on this one, peace * - Crash-Override - Sep 16, 2011 (Sep 16, 2011 12:15 PM)Hell Guardian Wrote: I think It's a bit weird to have a moderator that only had 7 posts in the section! How come omni chose him ? ❓ * - Esix - Sep 16, 2011 This user must be close to his red ruby award I guess, unless he showed a good amount of knowledge of the section he moderating. 😶 * - Crash-Override - Sep 16, 2011 (Sep 16, 2011 12:25 PM)Esix Wrote: This user must be close to his red ruby award I guess, unless he showed a good amount of knowledge of the section he moderating. 😶 sounds more like a joke to me now... He don't even have a thread in vb.net section. Not even a single tutorial. Nothing close to coding.. But yet he moderates the coding forum ? How can someone moderate something when he don't know anything about it ? 🤮 * - Sol Yurick - Sep 16, 2011 I do know how to code in VB. I remember when you got denied for Reverence you acted in an immature manner and here you are again. Does it make someone qualify for mod because they can code a AIO in VB, I do not think do. Also so far, I think I am showing dedication with my duties. I have gotten several PM's from big named users in the VB section, and they really are commending me for my hard efforts to clean the section up. Quoted by Codevade: "It would make better sense to put someone who is familiar with HF rules and regulations better than someone who just knows about coding. It is about moderation not knowledge in the subject. Just because a member is promoted to staff does not mean they need to have knowledge in every section on hackforums, they would need to lean more on being educated in rules and policies of HackForums." Quoted by Xypher: "Oh look, I'm being mentioned. It's true. Does being able to program a trojan from scratch have ANYTHING to do with junking and closing threads? Not one single bit. Get over yourselves and stop acting like you would be better mods. Omni will demote him either way if he does a bad job, it's win win. You guys that bitch about your home section needing a moderator either gets a good one, or he turns out to suck and you get to laugh at him for being demoted. Where is the badness behind this? Oh, right, you didn't get mod yourself because you guys are all perfect, but he isn't, right?" * - Impurity - Sep 16, 2011 You guys have this all wrong, Reverence isn't even a coding group, it's only part coding and guess what, Astonish has nothing to do with that part. So the logic there didn't work, who knows what Administration was thinking but I agree with you Apple, it's hilarious to me. * - Apple - Sep 16, 2011 (Sep 16, 2011 12:28 PM)Astonish is NJ Wrote: I do know how to code in VB. Quote:I do know how to code in VB. I remember when you got denied for Reverence you acted in an immature manner and here you are again. First off, -repping you isn't acting immaturely. Secondly, nobody cares if you can code in VB, that isn't the point. Quote:from big named users in the VB section, and they really are commending me for my hard efforts to clean the section up. Like who? And lastly, the point is, you weren't active in the section at all, you paid for a programming group, and now you're a moderator of the entire section. I'm not saying you won't do a good job, I'm saying that you are not the person who should have been given the position. * - Sol Yurick - Sep 16, 2011 (Sep 16, 2011 12:33 PM)Apple Wrote: First off, -repping you isn't acting immaturely. Who is "right" for the job? Someone with 2k posts in the VB section who knows nothing about HF rules. I am sure. |
