He is looking for the most modern used technique. Which I would say is using a Shell Booter. However, if you want my honest opinion start your own botnet they are more reliable.

botnets reliable?
well botnets require people do be online while shell booter rely on websites.
good part on botnets is you can hold some offline
bad part your zombies have to be online
good part on shell booter can hit what ever time
bad part can boot only for a few minutes
