clannad first, after story is the sequel. and they focus more on making those tearjerking moments rather than action. (comedy is great though)
it's something you'll watch eventually if you plan to keep watching anime, it's rated #1 on AnimeNewsNetwork and people will definitely recommend it a million times to you.

Definitely watch clannad. Its made by the same people that made Angel Beats, same author (Jun Maeda <3), and i assume you watched the dub version if you watched from netflix right? You'll also see some of the same English voice actors. Clannad is great, definitely watch it.

Anime that I find similar to Angel Beats! are:
1. Clannad
2. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
3. Toradora!
4. 5 Centimeters per Second (it's an animated movie though, but consists of three "episodes")

Angel Beats!!! 😁
Amazing anime, and the ending was amazing as well (not sure why you didn't like it, other than the fact that it's not 24+ episodes).
"Toradora!" is a definite must if you liked AB! - they both have the same amazing feeling and awesome character development, as well as beautiful art and a killer soundtrack!

I do get your point, I know the feeling. It really does suck when you know that an amazing anime is about to end. As I suggested in my previous post, I highly recommend you watch Toradora! or Clannad, it's quite similar to Angel Beats.
