[VOTE] HackForums Chat [Private Chat] [MUST READ] - Persuit - Mar 19, 2012 I think there should be a system where you can connect a person you are PM to accept or decline a pop-up script that looks like a "mini" IRC chat. If declined it would say " HF USER IS CURRENTLY AWAY " HF user would be defined as PHP Code "username;" would be defined as the logged in user. What this could potentially do is ALOT The system would bring the website BIGGER. That means people will connect more, and if there is more connection there would be more of a reason for people to actually come on more frequently! To talk to their friends and such. [20% more traffic a day just so people can connect much more] Also, HF can keep hidden logs. I recommend Admins to get SSL, and protect everything, under https://secure.hackforums.net and the files of ALL the chat logs would be saved. It would be confidential ONLY and UNLESS a user is reported. That means there are STRICTER scamming consequences. I know the rules, and I know that THE DEALER AND THE USER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR THINGS, but If someone made a deal dispute, all these people who want proof that a deal dispute etc is real and stuff?! I mean If you get a mentor or something to pull up the logs to confirm that USER1 scammed USER2, They should put under as an award the "Scammer Award" or something called "Beware" just to stop people from getting scammed. Because NOT MOTIVATING the stop for scammers is bullshit to me. I hate how they just ignore the fact someone got scammed, I understand it was their responsibility, but people should know that the person who SCAMMED user2 should be thrown out there. You know how much people/users you would lose because of not proposing a system that stricts the scams out there could have people quit, and in these case it would be a small percentage but it should still be enforced The chat would be used to talk to people easily. Shitty photos: So first off I don't know how it would be able to connect, but I guess there would be an option to PM a user an invite. Spoiler (Click to View) When you click to close, It would save all logs on "Y" and on "N" would keep it running. Even if their laptop died/computer turned off the chat would be still running as "connected" under the server.. Spoiler (Click to View) On maximize Spoiler (Click to View) On minimize Spoiler (Click to View) I know these are shitty photos, but It's just basic Ideas and it would be cool as a "CMD-theme" I could probably create this but it would take some time. Do you agree? Chat would be available only for upgraded members * - Diabolic - Mar 19, 2012 Yeah this would be pretty awesome... I agree. * - Persuit - Mar 19, 2012 (Mar 19, 2012 10:02 PM)Diabolic Wrote: Yeah this would be pretty awesome... I agree. Still remember you! :) Enforce the stop for scammers! Atleast create some sort of award to put out that the person is a scammer! Or make their username red or something.. * - ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - Mar 19, 2012 I think this would be good in eliminating, or at least decreasing, the scamming going on here. * - Persuit - Mar 19, 2012 I believe there should be a group of the most trusted members on here [according to omni or admins/mods] that should be an "Enforcement Team" that would check the logs for disputes. And I would advise MEMBERS to deal on the CHAT, not on aim/skype or anything. * - .Blank - Mar 19, 2012 I like it but you're wrong by saying traffic will be increased by 20% :) * - Persuit - Mar 19, 2012 That's just an estimate from my experience. And I meant current traffic. Users would be on 20% more often just to talk more.. * - J0uk0 - Mar 19, 2012 I would love this. We could become more social. Also I don't have to keep deleting important Private Messages. * - ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - Mar 19, 2012 Actually, since this might become huge, I think we should only use this official chatting service when doing deals with other members. For other purposes, people could just use AIM, MSN Messenger, etc... * - Persuit - Mar 19, 2012 I was thinking something for the private messaging system also. You can pay a fee of a few cents and get your own ftp secure file of all your PM's you wanna store away.. Just an idea but probably wouldn't pass (Mar 19, 2012 10:13 PM)Subotai Wrote: Actually, since this might become huge, I think we should only use this official chatting service when doing deals with other members. You need to remember about the part to enforce scammers. Where HF can check a deal disputes logs and confirm it. Ofcourse mods/admins wont do that, They get a team of an "enforcement group" * - Refrigerator - Mar 19, 2012 I don't agree, I think it is a great idea but this is HackForums, You gotta look at all our traffic, with this amount of traffic I don't think a script like that would be possible, I mean look at HF on the first week of summer I can barely get on and I know a few people using a chat script would be fine but when you get hundreds upon hundreds of people chatting all at once it can be a real system resource headache, I ran a basic chat site once and the chatting was not really a problem but when it came to keeping logs and such it just because a real disk problem and although the idea is a good one, I don't think it is possible due to the resources HF is limited to. * - ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - Mar 19, 2012 (Mar 19, 2012 10:14 PM)Persuit Wrote: You need to remember about the part to enforce scammers. As long as they can confirm the deal, it will reduce the scamming * - Persuit - Mar 19, 2012 (Mar 19, 2012 10:20 PM)Hajdar Wrote: I don't agree, I think it is a great idea but this is HackForums, You gotta look at all our traffic, with this amount of traffic I don't think a script like that would be possible, I mean look at HF on the first week of summer I can barely get on and I know a few people using a chat script would be fine but when you get hundreds upon hundreds of people chatting all at once it can be a real system resource headache, I ran a basic chat site once and the chatting was not really a problem but when it came to keeping logs and such it just because a real disk problem and although the idea is a good one, I don't think it is possible due to the resources HF is limited to. The files will automatically compress after 2 days of no-dispute. Does that sound like a good idea? And HF would make some cash if they charge a fee for Administrator/Moderator time wasting to decompress the files, find the log and make the scammer a KNOWN scammer. So after the 2 day no-dispute time period, they would have to be charged to publicly host to beware the person, for missing their time to report the scam. Every 2 days after this script it would compress them into a zip file in a password only directory in a secret directory. * - Refrigerator - Mar 19, 2012 (Mar 19, 2012 10:24 PM)Persuit Wrote: The files will automatically compress after 2 days of no-dispute. Yes but I still half to think about the resources that would still use, It's not about storage, that is extremely cheap anymore but when you have, lets say 800 people all talking at one time, not only is it going to use a lot of resources on the server such as CPU and Memory, but it would be another increase on staff. I honestly think the idea is good, but the part I am most worried about is logs, I mean you half to keep logs and 800 people talking activity with their friends even Solid State Drives would have problems keeping up with that writing activity. I honestly think its a great idea but I don't think its possible on the server side of everything. Compression would save some disk resource's but it would not solve the writing issue and it would create an increased CPU load. * - Zinthertar - Mar 19, 2012 This is a forum.
