SWAGSTER's HQ 3D Tutorial [Photoshop] - Astronome - May 3, 2012 So do you want to create a simple and attractive 3D effect to your text/objects in photoshop?
If yes, then follow this tutorial to create something like this: ![]() Step 1: Let's start by creating a new document by going to "File">"New" or by licking "ctrl+N" Enter the width and height you want I'm gonna go with "600"x"200" (HF sig limit) ![]() Step 2: Now fill the background with #33 (HF Bg) using the bucket tool (G) ![]() Step 3: Now it's time to add the text, click on the text tool or press "T" on your keyboard, and enter the text of your choice. I'm going to type in Swagster using "Lobster 1.4" font and #d5d5d5 color ![]() Step 4: Next we are going to duplicate the text layer by right clicking on it and pressing on duplicate layer or by pressing "ctrl+J" Rename the bottom text layer to "Bottom" and change it's color to something darker, I'm going to go with #9c9c9c Now move the "Bottom" layer to the desired position you would like to create the 3d angle from, such as bottom, left, top, right and depending on your desired depth you move it further or closer. So now you should have something like this: ![]() Step 5: It's time to create the basic 3d effect, select the "Bottom" layer and hold the "alt" key, now using your arrow keys keep pressing the direction to which the bottom layer coincides with the top layer, don't get it? Well I moved my bottom layer in step 2 to the left so while holding the "alt" key I press the right key over and over again till my new layer is under the under the original top layer and you should get something like this: ![]() Step 6: Select all the bottom layers (by holding ctrl and licking on each layer), right click and select "Rasterize Type" then while they are still selected click on "Merge Layers" Step 7: Now to create the HQ 3D effect, select the top layer, which is the text layer for me it is " Swagster" right click and press on "Blending Options" and apply the following: ![]() Now select the bottom layer and apply these blending options ![]() That's it your done, you can even apply these steps to objects: ![]() DOWNLOAD PSD I'll be adding a video tutorial soon... * - Top - May 3, 2012 Very nice tutorial.
