Report Program Generator - vive facile - May 12, 2012
I know this is a shot in the dark, but does anybody out there have an good resources for the RPG IV/ILE language and/or as400 OS? I'm trying to learn because there are many job opportunities out there if you know them. Only problem is that
1. There is no way to get free access (with out limitations, some of which is restricted access to an RPG compiler) to an as400 machine
2. There are practically no free resources available.
Not only is nothing free, but nothing is cheap either. A minimal timeshare on an as400 machine without restrictions can easily cost $20 a month, which includes like 1 library (directory), low priority in the command queue, etc.
My Father is an RPG programmer (manager status) at a private software development company, and he might be able to get me access to their as400 server (only problem is that they are a multi-million dollar company, and I'm sure they don't want some one fucking around on their system), but it still doesn't help much if I don't know even the most basic of commands.
I've obviously googled a lot and I have found some resources, like "RPG/400.pdf", but I can't find any type of book like you would a linux textbook, which teaches you the OS from the ground up.
If anybody has any information, I'd be very grateful.
