IPv6 Support and Public Education Campaign - /dev/net/tun - May 26, 2012

I think HF should enable IPv6 support for its users, as well as produce a public education campaign as to what IPv6 is, what it entails, and how people can enable its use.

It can be enabled by signing up for a tunnel with Hurricane Electric (free), and really makes a difference as to how future-friendly the site as a whole is.

Its merely adding support for the necessary future of internet communications. What's not to like about it?

I actuallly support this idea. IPs are running odour very quickly.

Very good idea. IPv6 is a definite requirement in the future, and letting users know of its existence and how to use it before all the IPv4 addresses run out is a good suggestion. Just ignore the people who "don't like" it, most of them don't even know what it is or why it exists. :)

I support this.

For this very reason: http://penrose.uk6x.com/

I just watched that video since you posted it. It looks great. Can't wait for the new IP's to roll out.

I'm pretty surprised this hasn't been suggested before. I support this idea, although a native and direct implementation would be preferable. Anyone who doesn't most likely doesn't understand it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, HF uses cloudflare and cloudflare has already started supporting IPv6.

HF only uses Cloudflare for DNS. Omni's said he doesn't want to switch to Cloudflare totally. I'm guessing its because its a pain in the ass to transfer over all the blocklists.

Oh, and all the retards saying "sites broken because of cloudflare, fix it".

Cloudflare does support the DNS, but having the IPv6 would be essential to the forum.

I support this idea also, I'd like to see it.

* - kray - May 27, 2012

I am not sure about the education campaign, but I support implementing IPV6.

* - Infinitе - May 27, 2012

Completely agree with this.

There aren't many people that know about the existence of IPv6 and that's where the education campaign would help. HF is very well apart of the technological community, and so adding this would further extend the reach of HackForums outside. Plus, as IPv4 is being zoned out over time, having IPv6 ahead of time would be fantastic.

So yes, support!

Limestone's IPv6 support is pants-on-head retarded.

I also want ice cream.

Their retardism is why I suggested hurricane electric.
