What is the latest greatest tool or method to hacking and defacing a website.

C99 Shell, or other shells. Defacing is not just a snap easy. Its actually pretty difficult.

Manually SQLi maybe ?
Havij sucks, it can't even get tables, where I can manually get them.
There are other ways, but SQLi is the only one I know.

Brain.dll, and body.xml. You should use them well.

Sqli, XSS, RFI, LFI etc. Also, look for exploits on www.exploit-db.com

I think SQLi/LFI are the most Common ways for defacing..
