Wireless extender/repeater questions - Iceberg. - Jun 21, 2012 So basically I live in the 2nd story at the far right of the house and my modem is on the first floor in the far left. I have a decent routor and I get download between 6mbs - 12 mbs on my laptop upstairs, but I am looking for a better download rate. But when I go downstairs and connect to my routor with a wire I get 30mbs now my question is, if I get a repeater up in my room and I connect a device via ethernet cable directly will I get a 30mbs download rate? Thanks for any help you can give me. 🤝 * - Spoderman - Jun 21, 2012 (Jun 21, 2012 04:11 PM)Iceberg. Depending on your internet connection/wireless connection you would most likely have a faster download speed via Cat6. Personally I haven't used it, but I the people I've talked to say it works great. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=294&name=Powerline-Networking * - Spoderman - Jun 21, 2012 (Jun 21, 2012 05:28 PM)Iceberg. If you have a sudden power surge, you can fry your motherboard. I've seen it happen and it's not pretty. It's not safe. |
