No, on the PuTTy part,

It says can't cd to sdcard or
can't cd to debian

it won't cd to anything.

Hmmm... weird. Did you do

cd /

first? Send me a screenshot so I can see what's going on.

Did you made a new folder at the sdcard named "debian" (without quotes) and extracted BOTH [.zip] files to there?

* - Friedrich Schiller - Jun 27, 2012

Well, looks like I just need to buy an android phone.

You don't need to. You MUST buy one.

I plugged my phone up to my computer and made a new file called "debian".
Then I extracted both of the zips and I opened the files on my computer..
Then I put.

debian.sh inside of the debian folder.
and put.
debian.img

in there...

I have a file manager on my phone but I'm not quite sure if that matters or not.

very strange... Go to PuTTY, do cd / then do ls . Post the screenshot of the output here.

There's the screen shot of me doing.

cd /
then
ls...

That's what popped up.

Mind doing cd /, cd sdcard then ls? I'm pretty sure you may have renamed the debian folder incorrectly.
