[SOLVED] Is this a 32-bit vs 64-bit issue or....? - ToXiiC - Jul 8, 2012 I need to install Platform SDK for Visual C++ 6.0 and it gives me an error saying: "Error: Setup was started in a non-native or WoW environment. Please run the setup package that is appropriate for your operating system installation." The same exact installer worked all the time on my old 32 bit laptop but now on my new computer it is giving me that error. I opened it on my home computer which is 32 bit and vista but the installer doesn't display the version anywhere. But it does say on the first page of the installer "It introduces support for d64 and IA 64 platforms on Windows 2003 SP1" So I am guessing that means the only way this will work for 64 bit computers is if it is a Windows 2003 SP1 system. If this matters to anyone you can download the installer here: http://depositfiles.com/files/zzlurtreb If anyone has a solution to this please let me know. SOLUTION: I did some searching on SDK and I thought there would be a ton of versions but I guess this is a very common SDK as old as it is. I found the download page for the exact same SDK and I found they have an "amd64" version. Microsoft download page: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6510' I will keep this thread here but close it so people find the solution when googling the error. |
