Linux Ubuntu - Latest Version - No templates installed - Grammar Rays - Jul 13, 2012 I'm right clicking on my desktop, trying to create a new file. Right click > Create New Document > No templates installed Any idea why I don't have any templates installed? Is that normal or did I fuck up during installation? * - Mehow - Jul 13, 2012 This might help: http://knightlust.blogspot.no/2009/07/no-templates-installed-on-nautilus.html Also try changing file manager. * - Your mum - Jul 13, 2012 If your only going to create a document then you don't need to save an extension. Open it with nano, vi or gui text editor and it'll open. * - NeoTerra - Jul 13, 2012 (Jul 13, 2012 07:04 AM)Robby Wrote: If your only going to create a document then you don't need to save an extension. No real file extensions (not like in Windows, at least). * - Overclocker - Jul 13, 2012 Eww, you're running Linux Ubuntu? Gross. I'm currently running Arch. I used to have Gentoo. * - Your mum - Jul 13, 2012 (Jul 13, 2012 08:00 AM)Executive Wrote: Eww, you're running Linux Ubuntu? Gross. Don't be so hateful and bitter, joke yeah ubuntu is shit @OP try starting on Debian. You don't actually have to use arch, gentoo and the likes to dive in to a certain distro flavor I dived into FreeBSD and managed to install it rather easily and set everything up after going through the habits. I only have 2 years Debian experience, nothing on BSD. * - Overclocker - Jul 13, 2012 (Jul 13, 2012 08:30 AM)Robby Wrote: Don't be so hateful and bitter, joke yeah ubuntu is shit @OP try starting on Debian. He should try uboontu and see how he likes it. * - NeoTerra - Jul 13, 2012 (Jul 13, 2012 08:32 AM)Executive Wrote: True. But he's starting out. He should try uboontu and see how he likes it. I would recommend Crunchbang to start off with instead of Ubuntu. Ubuntu is a POS in my opinion. * - Grammar Rays - Jul 13, 2012 Really I'm just using Ubuntu just to get my footing in Linux, I'll probably go through other distros/flavors in the future. * - Super Effective - Jul 13, 2012 (Jul 13, 2012 10:25 AM)Grammar Rays Wrote: Really I'm just using Ubuntu just to get my footing in Linux, I'll probably go through other distros/flavors in the future. I'm kind of the same here, but I'm using Linux Mint. I can't stand the current Ubuntu in the slightest. That entire side bar thing is just a way to waste my space. I also have Slackware, but I use it less often. * - Mehow - Jul 13, 2012 I found Ubuntu to be quite unresponsive compared to other distro's, maybe it's just my computer that sucks.. But it's an Ubuntu specific problem. * - Your mum - Jul 14, 2012 (Jul 13, 2012 10:25 AM)Grammar Rays Wrote: Really I'm just using Ubuntu just to get my footing in Linux, I'll probably go through other distros/flavors in the future. If you are capable, I'd suggest diving into Debian. You might have to compile a few sources like java and flash but that's about it. It focuses more on the terminal than Ubuntu or Mint and requires a bit more tuning. |
