Linux compiler - Greyersting - Aug 9, 2012 I just switched to Linux Mint and am installing code::blocks What is a good c++ compiler for linux? * - g4143 - Aug 9, 2012 If your using Linux then the choice is the GNU GCC compiler, I would also investigate NetBeans with the C/C++ plugin. I use Linux with NetBeans + C/C++ plugins and find it hands down better than Code::Blocks. * - Greyersting - Aug 9, 2012 (Aug 9, 2012 04:04 PM)g4143 Wrote: If your using Linux then the choice is the GNU GCC compiler, I would also investigate NetBeans with the C/C++ plugin. Alright! Thanks again for your help. Also here is a great guide for anyone wanting to install code::blocks- http://dahoiv.net/programmering/cpp/how-to-install-codeblocks * - shixhaxermod98 - Aug 9, 2012 In my honest opinion clang > g++. 😁 * - _SLQ - Aug 9, 2012 (Aug 9, 2012 05:24 PM)shixhaxermod98 Wrote: In my honest opinion clang > g++. 😁 Same here, g++ all the way with CDT in Eclipse. * - framk - Aug 10, 2012 GCC does the trick for me Whenever you want to compile your source file, just type: gcc myprojectname.cpp myfilename and then you should have a nice executable sitting where the file was to execute that in terminal, type: ./myfilename bam! * - tulamba - Aug 10, 2012 linux should come with pre-installed gcc/g++. type gcc or which gcc to find out. For editor, you may choose netbeans, eclipse, code blocks etc |
