Official End of Custom User Groups - Omniscient - Sep 15, 2012 I'm no longer selling or adding new custom user groups for members. Don't PM me asking me either. I'll turn down your money no matter what you offer. We have enough custom user groups here I think. So you can mark this the end of an era. HF no longer sells custom user groups. Existing groups will remain and can still be transferred to a new owner for a$250 fee. Years ago I added groups free for members so they can have a sense of pride in being part of something with fellow members and allow private forum discussions. I think in total about 6-8 free groups were created. But as HF group resources did become a problem and the requests for groups increased. I was very stingy about adding them. I was offered payment to start groups and felt it was appropriate given the resources needed to deal with them. I set a high price but groups still sold. I eventually closed or converted all the legacy free groups into paid groups. I then raised price again. More groups sold. New groups imho have almost no relevance in adding quality to the site. The existing groups are more than enough to fulfill the original goal of groups..."so they can have a sense of pride in being part of something with fellow members and allow private forum discussions". Just like the awards I feel if they lose their rarity they lose their value to the community. So no more custom user groups. Thank you. * - Lady Deathstroke - Sep 15, 2012 Thanks for this post omni now lets end all the cross posting across the forum. * - SuaveSalmon - Sep 15, 2012 Oh wow. Well I can see where this is coming from. Gonna be a big step for HF :O Creed is just LQ and some of them are turning into them. * - Hexicidal - Sep 15, 2012 One of the best features of HF while it lasted. Thank you for the opportunity you gave me when I purchased Coders. Much appreciation. * - St. Jiberish - Sep 15, 2012 Can owners still promote and demote other co-leaders still, just wondering. * - Nero - Sep 15, 2012 Dang. Well, I guess this is for the better. Will WiFi still be able to sell Eminence? And will Viral (potential buyer) be able to change the name and all? Or can you no longer change a group entirely (name, userbar) * - Soulmate - Sep 15, 2012 (Sep 15, 2012 03:24 PM)Nero Wrote: Dang. When $250 is paid to Omniscient the change is covered in the fees. * - Яǝʌǝɹsǝ - Sep 15, 2012 Ohhh now watch all the shitty groups raise price on entry. Ha! Good decision tho. * - bad - Sep 15, 2012 Glad to hear that as it was very rare to see new things coming in new groups. * - hαcker22 - Sep 15, 2012 (Sep 15, 2012 03:24 PM)Nero Wrote: Dang. He stated in OP, groups can still be sold/renamed. (250$ fee) * - KernelMode - Sep 15, 2012 Good thing. I feel like we have enough groups as well. * - Albert - Sep 15, 2012 Thanks for the information Omniscient. * - Nero - Sep 15, 2012 Soulmate Wrote:"Existing groups will remain and can still be transferred to a new owner for a$250 fee. Hopefully, things will get better from here on out. |
