HackForums userscript - HF news notifier [1.0.9] - The-One - Sep 22, 2012
Hey,
Because of https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2868516 thread in the suggestion area I decided to make a userscript who checks if there is a new news topic posted.
The script uses cookies, checks if there is a update once every 30 minutes and is made in Javascript. Source can be viewed anytime (link below).

Only fully tested on Google Chrome, I have tested it on Firefox and it worked but I haven't fully tested it fully for bugs.

It just checks if there is a new normal thread made (no sticky) and it notifies you.

I was looking into userscripts a couple hours ago actually. I think this is a good idea for those who were in favor of the idea or would like to be updated on the news. I'm glad it Omni didn't put this into the site(yet), I don't read the news and would of found it be annoying.

The news is actually pretty interesting, and I doubt Omniscient ever adds it since it will cost allot of bandwidth since you have to load settings and the news page every single time someone enters the forum.
