What year is the penny? I've never heard of a silver penny and I'm a coin expert. I've seen pennys struck on the planchets of dimes, but never a silver penny.From the looks of it you're referring to a steel penny created during the war. Still a nice coin though :)

They're really old and pretty rare. I think there might of been $1 bills too at one point, not sure.

It says "1943", was made during WW2, since it didn't end until 1945.

I have 90 or so 1943 Steel pennies, bought 200 on eBay last year for $15. Received them in rough condition, had them cleaned to great condition and resold about 100 for $30.

Well if you're Canadian, I am going to let you know that Silver Pennies are rare but not worth that much. $3 tops. I have been coin collecting all my life. Look for pre 1964 dimes and quarters. They are worth a lot.
