Tor on mobile devices: How to be "completely" anonymous on mobile - Vicellus Drum - Oct 27, 2012 Alright, a lot of people have been coming to be with their ipads, ipods, android phones, iphones, etc telling me to put tor on it, then they don't have a clue how to use it properly. These are my instructions how to use tor on your mobile devices. If you do not know what tor is, or how to use it, just read it up at Tor's site ANDROID PHONES/Devices: does NOT have to be rooted Now for androids, you will need to download a program called Orbot which is also created by Tor, just under an alternate name which is free to download on the android market Once you have Orbot, you must set up the server properly 1)Open settings 2)Scroll down to "Outbound Network Proxy" 3)Type in "Socks4" on the Outbound Proxy Type 4)Type in "localhost" for the Outbound Proxy Host 5)Type in "8118" for the Outbound Proxy Port Now you have Orbot fully ready to go, just hold down the giant power button, and it will set up your server (*for some people you may need to check "relaying" under relays) Now for it use the proxy server, you must 1)go to Settings 2)Wireless & Networks 3)Mobile Network settings 4)Access point names 5)hit menu>New APN 6)Name whatever you want it to be called 7)APN [depends on your provider] just google APN name for [your network] 8)Proxy: localhost 9)Port: 8118 10)save 11)click on the proxy to connect To check if you're using Tor right now, click on this For IOS devices: MUST BE JAILBROKEN Go to cydia and search in "Mobile Tor" by BigBoss If you don't have BigBoss Repo Sources>edit>add> type in http://apt.bigboss.us.com/repofiles/cydia/ Once you have Mobile tor on your device, go to: Settings>Wi-Fi>[blue arrow on your wifi]> HTTP Proxy>Manual> Server: localhost>Port:8118 now to check if you're on Tor, click on this side notes -Tor is NOT completely anonymous, so don't bother commenting on that, I was just referring to being more anonymous than being on your 4G/3G network. For questions, feel free to comment/pm * - Server97 - Jul 8, 2014 I like it. Sounds cool. I like the sound of Tor on mobile. * - Vicellus Drum - Jul 8, 2014 (Jul 8, 2014 11:27 PM)Onam Wrote: I like it. Sounds cool. That's what I used quotes around "completely". This was also before knowledge of FBI nodes in tor. (Oct 27, 2012 06:34 PM)Vicellus Drum Wrote: *side notes* Already answered that 2 years ago (; |
