Thought that Higurashi's OP was just a simple mindfuck? read this. (Outbreak Update) - .Credit. - Nov 4, 2012 Ok, so, I started digging, deeply, into higurashi's OP So, most people will know the OP is just a simple mindfuck. But let me tell you an analysis of the OP which you've likely havent heard about or thought off. Right when the title pops up, the blood and the line form the infinity symbol, as in a neverending paradox. When you look at the OP in reverse, you'll see: The crows flying away from hinamizawa, The Gate closing; indicating there is no light thus the flowers can't survive, Rika putting on a mask instead of removing it. The chanting you hear at the beginning, say "You can't escape" (in japanese) if you listen to the song playing in reverse. Also, in the reverse lyrics, Satako says: "Nii-Nii yorushite", which means: Brother forgive me. The village which hinamizawa is based upon, is a real village in Japan. In the 80's there was a case there in which a man got paranoid, said he was abducted by aliens. And while calling with the police in a phone booth, he clawed his own throat out (No, really, im not kidding.) Akasaka's name means "Protect" Remember Pokemon? the name Lavender Town was originally "Shion Town" now we all know about Lavender Town Syndrome And actually, hallucinating that you have bugs under your skin exist, it's called formication. Scratching out your own throat with your nails is also possible I think. And just like the Hinamizawa Syndrome, too much stress can cause extreme paranoia, the paranoia gives you more stress that can be harmful for your nerves and this may cause hallucinations and delusions. And theese kind of things can make people commit murders. And another fun fact: There's a parasite called "Toxoplasma gondii". scientists state that 99% of humanity has been infected. This parasite can change behavior but most of the time humans don't notice that they are already infected; because the parasite doesn't kill the host, only lives inside him/her. Some scientist suspect that it's the main cause of schizophrenia, Depression, Paranoia, and can cause hallucinations and delusions. ->Hinamizawa syndrome? anyone? UPDATE: this indeed seems to be the thought behind hinamizawa syndrome Spoiler (Click to View). UPDATE FROM HIGURASHI OUTBREAK -contains spoilers-: Spoiler (Click to View) * - Tasemu - Nov 4, 2012 This was a sweet read. I didnt notice all that stuff from the op at all. Loved the series. ^^ * - ƒigure - Nov 4, 2012 Wow this was a really cool reading, Never really thought about this after watching the anime. * - juniiflow - Nov 4, 2012 Might actually consider to watch this, never tough this was a "mindfuck" kind of anime. this anime never gave me chills/scare exept for one part Spoiler (Click to View) I hope the gore is't as soft as Elfen Lied, and no magical powers coming out your ass... * - ƒigure - Nov 4, 2012 (Nov 4, 2012 05:04 AM)juniiflow Wrote: Might actually consider to watch this, never tough this was a "mindfuck" kind of anime. Nar its good with the gore, there apart where Rika (not sure if it was rika or one of the other girl and dw this wont spoil anything) puts a knife against the wall and starts banging her head against it. * - Rakshasa - Nov 4, 2012 Dear lord, I give you a cookie for observation skills good sir :O * - Voice - Nov 4, 2012 It's one of the few psychological anime I think I would still have trouble watching. I didn't have problems with the other ones I watched, because there's was enough backstory and romance to drown out all the constant death, but this anime is just "KILL! KILL! KILL!" and constant meaningless deaths set to a timeloop. * - ~Para - Nov 4, 2012 Higurashi was just a total mind fuck as a whole lmao. * - .Credit. - Nov 7, 2012 (Nov 4, 2012 07:46 AM)Voice Wrote: It's one of the few psychological anime I think I would still have trouble watching. The killing in season one was merely for character development. * - Premortal - Nov 7, 2012 Oh dear. I guess I have to watch the series now. * - Programmargorp - Nov 7, 2012 Holy, I skip over most OPs (too many spoilers, god dammit don't put bloody spoilers in your damned OP) Never noticed a single thing in the paragraph you said. * - Light Yagami. - Nov 7, 2012 I love anime with killing so i thought it was pretty good * - .Credit. - Nov 9, 2012 (Nov 7, 2012 04:11 AM)z3r0r00ted Wrote: I love anime with killing so i thought it was pretty good Honestly, I watched it for the story. The killing was justa by product which was very lulzy. * - Ρaragon - Nov 9, 2012 Haha I have toxoplasma gondii in my right eye. I have a scar. * - Voice - Nov 9, 2012 (Nov 7, 2012 12:29 AM)Dice-chan Wrote: Haha, actually, not really. All the answers and real story happens in season two. Well, my point wasn't that there was NO basckstory/character development, there's just no other MAIN topics except killing, death, and trying to scare the fuck outta you. I've watched a lot of the clips for this anime, and believe me, it still kinda scares me. I can't imagine what would happen to me if I watched it. |
