[For Super Noobs] How to change the Icon of your project[Simple][Quick] - Jet Stream - Jan 13, 2013 Hello guys,
When I first started making programs It was really hard to find a way to change the icon of my project. I googled it and found out you had to add code ect. But then I found a simpler way via trial and error. I then tried searching if there was a tutorial for this on hackforums, None. So I decided to create this. Now before you criticise me this is a tutorial for Noobs. Step 1: Downloading the Icon: Make sure to download an .ICO file as normal ones wont work. I prefer the site http://www.iconarchive.com/ as it has a good amount of icons. Step 2: Adding the Icon when viewing it in a folder This is very simple Click: Project > Projectname properties > Icon > Browse > Select the ICO you downloaded. ![]() Step 3: The real deal, Adding the icon for when you open the application Click on your form If you applied a theme then this is pretty difficult if your new to visual basic An easy way to do this is to look at the properties tab and click it to select your form. Next you scroll up until you see "Icon" and you then again insert your desired Icon file. ![]() Now it Should look like this!: ![]() Thanks for reading I hope I helped! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 🤝 * - TWave - Jan 13, 2013 i was just thinking u gona show how to replace the default icon but .. * - stalker - Jan 13, 2013 People could have easily searched in youtube "How to change application icon vb.net" * - Jet Stream - Jan 13, 2013 (Jan 13, 2013 01:17 PM)stalker Wrote: People could have easily searched in youtube "How to change application icon vb.net"Did you not read my post? Now i know how to display a messagebox AND how to have an icon! * - CodeJack - Jan 13, 2013 Its been years since touching VB and even I know this... * - Traitor-Panda - Jan 13, 2013 I don't see the need for making a tutorial on such a simple matter. I mean people could just google it and get the answer just as fast. * - Percocet - Jan 13, 2013 I feel really embarrassed to even say that I code in this language due to skids that post shit like this. The quality of this section is the worst on HF, and that's saying something... This section is even worse than the lounge... * - Furious` - Jan 13, 2013 I have no idea why everyone is hating on the thread, he had a tutorial to share even if it was posted before, regarding the quality of the section if this section was really high you wouldn't post on this thread. On topic, thanks for the tutorial keep it up. * - Percocet - Jan 13, 2013 (Jan 13, 2013 03:51 PM)Furious` Wrote: I have no idea why everyone is hating on the thread, he had a tutorial to share even if it was posted before, The quality of this section lowers every thread like this that gets posted. I don't see this kind of low quality in the C++ section, so why must it be in here? You sticking up for the OP making such a low quality tutorial, makes you look like a skid yourself. * - TheUninvited - Jan 13, 2013 Do not worry about the others,it was a nice tutorial and thanks for sharing. Most people is kids and doing the same as they still do,if you dont like just leave or get used to.Nothings changes. * - Stay Plural - Jan 13, 2013 Leave OP alone, you are all insolent and I have seen VB programs with the default icon, so nothing wrong with a tutorial. I don't see this kind of low quality in the C++ section, so why must it be in here? because noobs aren't going to go for the hard language's like c++ or asm and rather stick to the BASIC like VISUAL BASIC that is why its assumed that the people in the c/c++ section have some basic coding knowledge.. * - Percocet - Jan 13, 2013 (Jan 13, 2013 04:38 PM)Daylloween Wrote: because noobs aren't going to go for the hard language's like c++ or asm and rather stick to the BASIC That's the problem... We get to many stupid users in this section that don't even try learning the language and all they do is post help threads, expecting other people to do their coding for them. |
